SHARADA
Sharada Script, the native script of Kashmir, derives its name from the Goddess Sarada / Sharada or Saraswati, the goddess of learning and the main deity of the Sharada Peeth temple. This Abugida writing system of the Brahmic family of scripts is now only used by the Kashmiri Pandit community for religious purposes. While the oldest discovered inscription of the script is from 774 AD, The Sharada alphabet is said to have been in use between the 8th and 12th centuries primarily in the North-Western parts of Indian Subcontinent, comprising of Kashmir and its neighbouring areas. Sharada was the script for Sanskrit and Kashmiri languages and regarding its development, the period of early 13th century is considered significant.
