TELUGU
The Dravidian language, Telugu is from the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with about 73.8 million native speakers. Born of the ancient Brahmi script, one can trace the initial use of the language on inscriptions coins dating 400 BC. This script has broad similarities to the Kannada alphabet both of which evolved from the Kadamba script.
The language has a rich history of literature and was developed for this purpose during the 11th century. The Telugu script is commonly used for Telugu language. This script is also an abugida. The standard form can be seen to materialize around the 20th century.
